It is awesome when you all have to do to touch a rainbow is reach out.
At the Tiger Falls in Chakrata, apparently the second highest in India falling from 312 feet, you can actually do that. And with several smaller, shallower pools making for your own private whirlpools, bathing becomes an Alive is Awesome experience.
Established over 130 years ago by Colonel Hume of the colonial English Army, Chakrata is a cantonment town in Dehradun district, Himachal Pradesh. This quaint little town is perched between the Tons and Yamuna rivers at an altitude of over 7,000 feet. The Tiger Falls is a 20 km drive from the town or a 5 km vigorous trek if you chose to cut a straight path from the town. Of course, I went with the bird here. Deodars and rhododendrons line your path and you occasionally bump into friendly members of Jaunsar, an indigenous tribe. Once you reach the Tiger Falls, you can, with a little difficulty, reach the top of the frothy tumble and survey pristine surroundings. Climbing down, I splashed about for a while and then settled into one of the many rock-tubs. If you are good, the rainbow will waft over you in a million misty diamonds.Bubbling about your own rock-cut Jacuzzi, clad in a rainbow, Alive is Awesome!
